CD Launch for Joe Topping – 20th Feb

Joe is launching his new CD at Pacific Road on Saturday 20th Feb – he is joined by ourselves and the fabulous Tom Topping Band.

Joe is releasing this album on the Fellside Label following the success of 3-Side Island with the same Record Label. We hope to see a few of you there on Saturday night – further details on the ‘Gigs’ page.

New Start to 2010

Well the New Year has begun with a couple of gigs in January, the first of which saw us journey back to Parkgate Folk Club for another wonderful night.

Then another EJ first – a visit to Warthog Promotions in Lowdham. What a FANTASTIC night – a wonderful audience, a cracking venue and superb hospitality from Mike, Jackie & the gang. It’s really humbling to see people turn up and spend their Saturday night with you, even though you’ve never played there before… and they’ve arrived on the back of recommendations from friends or clips from you-tube!!

The night continued into the early hours in the Old Ship Inn, where we were presented with Lowdham’s speciality beverage and we then broke the pub record for… well all sorts really!

Scotland and Birmingham, the End of the Road for 2009

So we wrapped up this years gigs with a 3 day venture to Scotland and then an evening south of Birmingham in Bromsgrove.
Balerno Folk Club saw a sixth member of Elbow Jane make an appearance for one night only... and the yellow duck now resides happily in Kevs bathroom!

At Edinburgh folk club the following evening, it was great to see people return who had heard us only the night before and a few others from when we visited Peebles earlier in the year. There were also a good number of people whod been on our website, had a listen to our music and come along to see for themselves.......including a couple from Madrid! We weren?t everybodys cup of tea though- theres a fantastically hilarious and scathing review of the night on a website...well post it here when we get a mo... it really is worth a look!
The Star club in Glasgow was perhaps the most beautiful venue weve ever played in a restored 18th century church. A welcoming crowd made us feel right at home and a big thanks to Tom for letting use the in house PA, and a massive hats off to our sound engineer Richard Harrison for working a miracle in a room with more than enough natural reverb!

So the final gig of our 3-Side Island jaunt around the UK saw us visit Shining Friends acoustic roots in Bromsgrove.. and we couldnt have picked a more fitting finish. We first met Paul & Jane when we played at Dougie McCleans Perthshire Amber Festival and it was lovely to visit their venue in the Lickey Hills. The night was rounded off with a good old Birmingham Curry provided by the venue a perfect end to the year?s gigs!

See you all in 2010, when we plan to do a handful of dates alongside writing and recording again.
Thanks to all who have supported us, making 2009 a real year to remember.

Autumn Gigs & New Beginnings

Our final two festivals saw us perform at Wirral Food & Drink festival and Fylde Folk Festival. It was great to be back at Fylde again - we all have a historical love for the folk in fleetwood!!

Since then Kev has become father to Samuel James (much better looking and only slighly noisier than his dad when sleeping) and Joe is about to be wed to the lovely Anna any day now. Joe has also put the finishing touches to his solo album with Fellside Records which will be released in the New Year.

We have a splattering of gigs this autumn - hope to catch you either North of the border in Scotland, or south of Birmingham in Bromsgrove - check the giglist for details.
